Here, we focus on four conceptually and empirically distinct fo rms of social trust (Freitag & Bauer 2013). In the social sciences, the subtleties of trust are a subject of ongoing research.

In this post, we explore the social psychology of trust with respect to ourselves and the relationships we share. We also briefly touch up on the various kinds of trust that exists. The insights of social psychology are not thoroughly integrated into international relations theory, yet social psychology has much to offer. Social psychology provides a conceptualization of a number of varieties of trust – moralistic, strategic, and generalized – and their opposites that implicitly drive the logic of major works of international relations.
